Seeking a reliable, reputable dentist in Soho?

When searching for a new dentist within the Soho area of London, it’s easy to get swept away by the number of available practices. It is for this reason that, when seeking out a new dentist in Soho, you ought not to base your decision purely on which practice is the most geographically convenient, but rather which practice you feel best suits you and your unique needs and requirements on your dental journey. By taking the time to seek out a dentist who is right for you, and with whom you share a good rapport, a long-standing relationship that is founded on trust, respect and understanding can come to pass which can last for years to come.

Hidden wonders

One of the most popular procedures which patients within the Soho area, and through all of London, seek – is the use of discreet dental aligners such as Invisalign. This is a method of discreet orthodontics which has become vastly popular in recent years, particularly within the demographics of teenagers and young adults. The primary reason for this is that the Invisalign method negates the need for conventional orthodontic tools such as fused brackets and metal wires – which often impact negatively on the outward appearance of those who seek them. These are replaced with a see-through, plastic, removable aligner. This aligner is constructed from a patented plastic known as SmartTrack, which is utilised for its uniquely durable, yet malleable nature. When worn, the retainer utilises specifically placed pressure points to gradually push the patient’s teeth back into their correct specifications. As each Invisalign brace is moulded around the specific contours of each patient’s teeth, and the SmartTrack material is transparent, the aligner fits so snugly over the patient’s teeth, that it becomes practically invisible when worn. This may explain why the procedure is so much more popular with teenagers and young adults, over conventional methods of dental alignment, as it affords them the ability to undergo essential orthodontic work, without attracting any unwanted attention from peers or colleagues. Another benefit to this method, which separates it from other, more conventional forms of orthodontics, is the removable nature of the aligner. Unlike conventional, fused braces, the Invisalign brace is removable. This uniquely affords patients the ability to decide when they carry out treatment, such as choosing to only wear the brace when at home or asleep.

Bridging the gaps

Another treatment which is vastly popular within the Soho area, is the installation of dental implants. This is a method of treatment which is only generally opted for in instances where teeth have been lost or damaged beyond repair, and act as a prosthetic solution to teeth that need replacing. The initial process of undertaking a dental implant consists of a small hole being drilled into the jawbone of the patient’s mouth, within the gap where their missing tooth or teeth ought to be. Thereafter, a titanium socket is inserted and left to heal. Titanium is used for its unique ability to fuse with human bone tissue, and after a brief period in which it does exactly that, a replica tooth – or denture – is then screwed into the socket, and thus the gap is bridged with a sturdy, good as new and virtually indistinguishable new tooth, and the patient’s smile is fully restored for years to come.
