My Background Checks – The Risks of Failing to Check Someone’s Background

One of the most important aspects of running a business is getting the right team together who will work win union for the success of your business. Of course the key to getting the right team is about giving the right training and sharing your vision with the team, but above all of this you must get the right people for the business from the outset, which means that your recruitment must be excellent.

When recruiting people it is vital that you do your due diligence which means that you must ensure that you perform a background check on the people that you are considering. My Background Checks is a service which you can find online who can perform this in no time, so there is really no excuse for not doing this. If you fail to perform a background check on someone, here are just some of the things that could take place.

Corporate Espionage

Last year there where more cases of corporate espionage than there has been during any other year to date, a worrying statistic which means that all business owners must be aware. Corporate espionage is where someone takes a position for your company and uses that position to feed information to your competitors, usually highly sensitive information which you wouldn’t want in the wrong hands.

Violence

A criminal check will give you someone’s criminal history if they have one, which is why it is so important to check things out. If you fail to do this with someone that has a history of violence and they then end up attacking someone in the workplace, the responsibility will fall squarely on your shoulders because you failed to properly vet the person that was coming to work for you.

Poor Quality

Many people lie when talking about their experience and their educational history, yet many of them are excellent at giving interviews so end up with positions. Unfortunately however if these people blag their way to getting a job, they are likely going to be extremely out of their depth when they do start working for you, which could result in poor performance, extra time spent on training and even their mistakes could be costly.

Reputation

If you want to hire ex-cons then that is your prerogative but you should know what you are getting into first. The reason for this is that there are some crimes which we simply cannot look past, especially when we think about the image which we are trying to present for our company. This is why it is so vital that you carry out a criminal background check, as in most cases a heinous criminal is not going to be too keen on declaring the truth on their application form. The truth however will always come out, just make sure that you are the one who finds it before it is too late.
